Pension planning

What tax planning actually does.

It's not about loopholes. It's about using what the rules already allow.

The government creates allowances and reliefs deliberately, to encourage saving, investing and providing for your family. Most people don't use all of them, simply because no one has outlined what’s permissible. That's what tax planning does.

Use your relevant allowances.

ISAs, pension relief, capital gains and dividend allowances, among others. Which ones matter depends on your circumstances. Used well, together they make a real difference.

Keep more of your growth.

Tax quietly reduces what your savings and investments are worth. The right structure keeps more of that growth in your hands.

Plan across a lifetime

What you earn, what you grow, what you leave behind. A good plan covers all of it, not just for one year.

The questions people arrive with

The difference between paying tax and overpaying it.

Few of us enjoy paying tax, but none of us want to pay more than we should.

But more often than people think, there is room to manoeuvre.

The tax you pay on your income, your investments, your gains and your estate depends heavily on how things are arranged. Two people with identical wealth can pay very different amounts, purely because one organised their affairs and the other didn't.

None of this involves tricks or grey areas. It's ISAs and pensions used properly, gains taken in the right years, income structured sensibly. Ordinary tools, used well, within the rules.

The result: you pay what you genuinely owe, and not a penny more.

What doing nothing costs

One decision affects the next.

Your pension, your investments, your savings, what you leave behind. Each one has a tax dimension, and a decision in one area often affects another.

Take a gain in the wrong year and you waste an allowance. Hold investments outside a tax wrapper and you pay tax you didn't need to.

Leave your estate unstructured and your family pays later, often more than they should.

We look at all of it together, so one part of the plan doesn't quietly undo another.

Pensions are different

One adviser. One plan. Every part of your tax position.

We're independent, and we take the time to understand your whole financial picture before we touch anything. A pension decision made in isolation can quietly undo a tax plan made somewhere else in your finances. We make sure that doesn't happen.

We've been doing this in Sussex, Surrey and Kent since 1993. Long enough to have seen most of the situations people bring us, and to know how to handle them carefully.
